Our
manufacturer's Laboratory is an accredited A2LA Laboratory
(American Association for Laboratory Accreditation) (2)
for both mechanical and chemical testing. All Test Equipment
is calibrated per NIST Requirements.

Checks for dimensional requirements
and surface discontinuities are performed at each stage of
the manufacturing process, using our in-house specification
which exceeds ASTM A325 / A490 / F1852 specifications.
After mechanical and chemical
testing is completed and prior to assembly, Lohr component
lots of bolts (with "ID" Codes), DH nuts and washers
are match-tension tested using a high-tech computer-controlled
fastener Tension Tester to assure that the component lots
to be assembled will develop installed tensions meet or exceed
AISC requirements.
NOTE:
Many manufacturers and testing laboratories utilize
a Skidmore Wilhelm Tension Testing machine to conduct bolt
to conduct tension tests. The Skidmore machine is a hydraulic
load cell mounted in solid steel bases. The load cell is
connected via a tube to a gauge (typically 2 Kip Increments)
to indicate the bolt tension.
Our
Lab uses a computer-controlled state-of-the-art Bolt Tension
Testing machine. This unit utilizes solid load cells
(connected to a computer system) to record installed tensions
and provide x y plots of torque to tension, spline break
torque, removal torque and installed fastener tension to
name just a few. Tension readings are via digital read out
in Kips (extended to three decimal points) and recorded
and saved on the computer by lot number
After match tension testing,
the specific component lots are then assembled, and final
testing is conducted. Set Lot numbers are assigned. Testing
data is stored on the computer for reporting and insertion
on the Inspection Certification, per AISC, ASTM A325 / F1852
/ A490 requirements.
A single page Inspection Certification
is used to provide the total test data for the set lot number
assembly.
2 Copies of A2LA Laboratory Certifications
for mechanical and chemical are available on request.
